What is Speed Dating?
Speed Dating events are organised to get men and women to have mini dates with each other and from these mini dates, they can decide if they would like to keep in touch with each other and meet up outside the event. Each Mini Date lasts for approximately 5 minutes, before moving on to the next person.
Will 5 minutes enough time to decide?
Five minutes is plenty of time, any longer than five minutes can get extremely tiring for an evening. Any longer than 5 minutes you will not get time to meet everyone.
How many dates will I get in the evening?
You’ll get approximately 15 to 20 mini dates in the evening. We have also introduced a “request extra time for our flirt chair” card. Please ensure that you fill the request card early to avoid disappointment. If you feel you need extra time to chat to the other person before making up your mind. We will ask them on your behalf and if they agree, you can use our quiet corner during the breaks.
We ask you to respect the other person’s right to say no; please do not be offended if they turn your requests down. Try to enjoy the evening fully!
Why do I need to book in advance?
In order to keep the number of men and women the same, we need to do this to ensure that we do not have more women than men or the other way round.
What if I cannot pay online?
Don’t worry, you can send us a cheques or postal orders.
What will happen on the night?
You should arrive approximately at 7pm; register your information with our hosts. You will be issued with personalised badge with your number on it and a match sheet. The event will start promptly at 7.30pm after a short ice breaker.
You will be briefed on the night about rules and then the event for the evening will start. We have ditched the normal rules where women are seated and the men move round the table. We find that this creates a more work- like interview and gets extremely boring and repetitive. The first half of the event will last approximately one hour.
Please return the match sheet during the break to one of our hosts, after 30 a minute break we will proceed with the second half of the event.
What do I do if I like someone?
The concepts of speed dating are that you have mini dates with lots of people in an evening. If you like them, then you tick yes and if you do not like to see them again, tick no. You can also make comments on the sheets to remind you of the person. If the person you like also shows mutual interest, we will exchange your contact details at the end of the evening.
Can Purple City give me contact details of “Y” if I show interests but they are not interested in me?
No, we will not give you their contact details if there is no mutual match or interests from both parties. And for this reason, Purple City will not give you their contact details. Please do not ask for these as we will not fulfil your wishes.
How will I know about my matches?
We will give you feed back at the end of the evening, unless you indicated that you would like your matches to be sent by e-mail, we will then e-mail you within 12 hours after the end of the event.
